Business Customer Affection

“How to proactively combat your competitors’ efforts to seduced your customers!”

“You don’t want to be considered, just the best at what you do. You want to be known as the only one who does what you do.” (Bill Graham, concert producer)

In today’s competitive business world there are strong competitors fighting for your customer’s affection. Often you will be contending with other businesses offering quality services or products at reasonable, (if not excellent), prices and standards.

How can you continuously and inexpensively educate your current customers on why they are doing business with you, and also attract and win new customers?
Permission Marketing! Stay in touch!

I am sure you have established your business position and have articulated your unique selling proposition in the field of your client’s mind!

What is going to differentiate your product or service from others?

As you seek to sow seeds in growing a relationship with your client, there are some questions you will have to face:

How strong and healthy is that seed planted in your client’s mind?
Are you watering your seeds on a regular basis?
Have you increased the sunlight so your seeds can grow much higher?

Is your constant relationship with your clients as strong as a tree, with roots going down to your clients’ core and when other competitive seeds are planted, the shade from your tree blocks the sunlight of the other seeds to stunt their growth.

Keep in contact!

Communication

To those who can dream there is no such place as faraway. Anon

Dreams are free….so they say! I guess they are if they just stay off in the faraway place of “someday…one day” and you never try to make them fly.

However, if you want to live in the reality of your dreams there will always be a price to pay. In order to achieve the vision you set out for your business, it often takes much time, money, patience, mistakes, sleepless nights and lots and lots of hard work.

When your dream has been successfully realised and business is booming, it may come as a shock to find that the shining star you aimed for has a dark side.

As your business grows there are more and more people to keep in touch with on a regular basis. There may not be enough time to do all the necessary tasks to keep business ticking over smoothly let alone communicate effectively with all your new clients.

Communication is the fuel to keep your dream flying. Strong businesses rely on creating strong relationships with your customers.

To achieve this successfully requires constant communication which most people have not got the time or processes in place to manage effectively.

The sad reality for many small expanding businesses is that they are unable to focus on this important yet seemingly un-urgent factor due to a lack of sufficient resources.

The first thing I ever do before I begin a road trip to Wellington is stop at the nearest petrol station and fill up my car’s fuel tank. You never begin a long drive with the petrol light on. If you do, you’re not going to get very far.

Communication with your clients will fill the tank with strong relationships which will drive the long-term success of your business.

Here at Permission Marketing Ltd, our dream is to provide the means for efficiently distributing the fuel that makes your dreams fly.

Our specialty is helping companies communicate effectively with their customers AND save valuable time. We may be able to work together to make both our dreams a reality. That way we will get to those places we dream of however far away they may appear.

Business Commitment

"Without involvement, there is no commitment... " Stephen Covey

Communication is the key to sustaining an ongoing relationship of any kind, including a business relationship with your clients!

If the relationship is not nurtured through regular contact there is often no reason to store information about a person in your head, let alone form any attachment to that person at a heart level.

During my time at University, I found that people are more likely to get involved in a club or group if they are personally invited to come along. The more involved they got, the more committed they became.

The same can be said of businesses.

The more you involve your customers by informing them on what is going on in your business, the more commitment they will show you.

You may have experienced those once-in-a-lifetime timeless friendships. The ones where it doesn’t seem to matter how long it’s been since you were in contact.

When you finally get in touch or meet up - it’s like no time has passed. Unfortunately that is not the way it usually pans out in the majority of our relationships; be it friendship or business.

Most relationships will need to be nurtured to grow into strong fully established connections.

Nurturing a baby is something a mother must concern herself with right from the time of conception. For a hen, this means making sure the nest is lined with feathers, sitting on the eggs, keeping them warm and protecting her eggs from the rest of the world.

It pays not to count your chickens before they hatch. However once they have emerged from the eggs, baby chicks need feeding and nurturing to fully grow.

In the same way, your business relationships need to be fed regularly to remain healthy. This can take time which you may not have in the chaotic rush of running your business.

Permission Marketing Ltd is in the business of saving you time and money by creating lifeline pathways to feed and nurture your ongoing relationships with your clients.

It is a proven fact: nurturing communication with your clients will strengthen your relationships with your clients and grow your business.

Business Reputation

It's not what you know, or who you know, it's how well you know them that counts.
Ivan Misner

No one involved in business wants to have a bad reputation. Many dollars are spent on maintaining a good public image.

It all rests on the well known fact that people talk. Unfortunately your customers are more likely to talk about the bad experiences they have encountered with your company than the good.

So what can you do to make sure your customers are hearing the success stories of your services?

The children’s rhyme: “Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me” doesn’t ring true in our competitive business market.

Many business empires have come toppling down when word gets out giving the company a bad name. Reputation is important in business. What you stand for and what “names” people call you do matter!

You could spend the top dollar on a huge publicity campaign; create the glossiest looking image out there.

The question is: what meanings do people associate with the words you plaster on your billboards?

When your customers hear your business slogans what connotations are provoked in their minds? Are you doing all you can to give people positive meanings to attach to the face and name of your company?

Knowing that people talk, it’s time to put that to work for your business. Testimonials from people can confirm the great service they have received from your business can engender confidence in your customers.

It doesn’t have to be expensive to let your clients know what others are saying about your business. Keep it brief, 4 lines max. Focus on the benefits your customers have experienced by doing business with you.

Using comments from well known people that your clients respect will gain your credibility and leverage your relationship.

You may not have time to address each customer personally and inform them of the testimonials. It doesn’t have to cost the earth to inform your customers

You may be thinking, “I would love to do something like this, but I don’t have the time” Never fear, that’s where a service like Permission Marketing can help.

We’ll help you construct a news letter which can be sent personalised to each of your clients via email.

Inexpensively connecting you with your clients. This way you can capitalise on letting your customers on what people are saying about your company. People DO talk: use it to your advantage!

The Brain is a Wonderful Organ

The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working the moment you get up in the morning, and does not stop until you get into the office.
Robert Frost

In today’s visual society, our brains are bombarded with images; multitudes of businesses competing for our space in our memory vaults.

The brain has become prime real estate. Many companies are spending much time, effort and money in attempts to conquer and dominate the Promised Land; the mind of the customer! The prime land being fought for is right at the forefront of your customer’s thinking.

Have you ever stopped to fully contemplate the complexities of the human brain? It is the hard drive for our entire body, thoughts, emotions etc.

Your brain stores and processes so many things every single day. How is it that you might not remember something but you can still recognize it if you see it somewhere?

There has been much effort, time and money invested into research into how the brain works and what that means for businesses.

Psychologists have found that it is easier to store new information in our memories if we can make associations in our brain with old information.

Studies show that short captions which form associations with relevant information already in your clients’ minds will enable the memory of your company to obtain space in your prospects mind.

According to current statistics it takes 10-12 encounters with your particular point of view for a prospective client to remember your company and retain what you stand for.

So how big is your paddock in the brain of your clients and prospective customers?

Can they read the sign attached or is it a blurred jumble of unreadable words on chipped paint? As a small business owner you may not have the time, money or capabilities to pay the big bucks required to fight the big boys in vying for your client’s valuable memory space.

Given today’s technological advances it doesn’t cost much to keep in regular contact via email.

This way you can remind your customers of your unique selling proposition enough times to get them thinking more about you.

If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, Permission Marketing Ltd can help save you time and money.

If you can capture the imagination and thought space of your clients and prospective customers, there’s no limit to the growth of your empire!

Booming Business

When success is a reality and business is booming, it may come as a shock to some to find that when the dream is realized, there are another set of obstacles to overcome.

The more successful your business becomes the more people you will have to stay in touch with on regular basis.

The key to building business is creating a strong relationship with your customers. This relies on constant communication which most people have not got the time or processes in place to manage effectively. Small expanding businesses have not often got the resources to focus on this important yet seemingly un-urgent factor.

Adding Romance

You can buy a person's hands but you can't buy his heart. His heart is where his enthusiasm, his loyalty is.
Stephen Covey

Loyal customers! That must be every business owner’s desire! If you can’t buy their hearts how do you get them? As the saying goes; “Out of sight is out of mind. Out of mind is out of money, honey!”

If you want to connect with the hearts of your clients it’s important to put a bit of romance in your business relationships.

No! I’m not talking about workplace romances! It’s about communicating to your customers in a way that captures their hearts and loyalty for a lifetime, not just their wallets for a moment.

Experts say that you only retain things in mind long term if they are where you can see them and easily access them.

If your clients don’t see you on a regular basis in their lives they are less likely to come to you when they need your services.

If they don’t regularly hear from you how will they know what you have to offer them?

I’ve heard it said that distance makes the heart grow fonder. In my opinion this statement needs to be qualified on the condition of constant, communication flow.

Anyone who has tried to maintain a long distance relationship knows it requires a LOT of communication to keep it working.

Life gets busy and the memory of your loved one gets crowed out by the sights and sounds of the world you can see before you.

This can make it difficult to sustain communication at a level that will keep your hearts connected.

Communication is the currency of love. The more you invest (i.e. the more you communicate) the bigger the returns.

The key is to maintain a level of communication that makes it seem like you’re close by. Customers need to know that you care. Actions speak louder than words…it really is true.

Information by itself only breeds complacency.
Keep the love flowing
